Accomplish more with a CASAC credential
The demand for addiction specialists is expected to grow 25 percent within the next decade.1 With this critical need growing, social workers are stepping in to bring treatment and addiction counseling to those struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues.
The Joint MSW and Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) Credentialing program provides our students the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of addiction counseling. They still gain the core skills and techniques foundational to our online Master of Social Work degree, but graduates will also walk away with an additional credential demonstrating their focus on treating those struggling with substance abuse.
In 2017, nearly 19 million people over the age of 18 struggled with a substance use disorder. Of that number, 8.5 million also had a mental illness.2 The need for experienced and knowledgeable clinical social workers and administrators will only become more urgent. As a substance abuse social worker, you can become a part of the global response to challenges of treatment and recovery.
At Yeshiva University, students gain essential insights into addiction counseling.
This joint MSW/CASAC program prepares our students to work in a number of different environments, including inpatient detoxification and residential treatment programs.
